Date of crash 25th September 1942 parent unit 12 Operational training unit Chipping Warden the aircraft was on a night cross country training exercise and struck the south side of Fan Hir ridge when flying off course the pilot F/Sgt Bird was killed Sgts.Barr,Fairweather and Trouhbridge were badly injured but survived Sgt Head was unhurt and helped local civilians to get the injured crew off the mountain the wreckage lies in a rocky outcrop GR SN 83267- 18382
